I love looking at beautiful homes, but I'm probably just as interested in the details that make those homes fee special. And bathrooms are one of my favorite spaces to see done really well.

Architectural Digest recently shared 70 bathroom ideas, ranging from simple desig uypdates to completely luxurious spaces. There are so many beautiful ideas in the collection, but the bathroom pictured here immediately caught my attention.

This one is my favorite.

It isn't one single feature that makes it work for me-it's the combination of materials.

The dramatic marble brings movement and a natural, organic element to the room, while the warm wood ceiling keeps all that stone from feeling cold. Then you have the brass fixtures, clean glass enlosure, light tile, architectural framing, and the wood detail surrounding the tub.

There's a lot happening, but somehow it all works together.

Mixing Materials Makes a Space More Interesting

One thing I love about good interior design is that everything doesn't have to match.

In fact, some of the most interesting rooms combine materials you might not immediately think to put together.

Marble + warm wood + glass + brass + textured tile

The contrast is what gives this bathroom so much character.

I especially love the transition from the darker, moodier wood ceiling to the light marble shower.
The arched detail and vertical wood behind the bathtub soften all of those clean lines and make the room feel warmer and more inviting.

It feels luxurious without feeling overly formal.

Good Design Can Also Affect How Buyers See a Home

As a real estate agent, I see firsthand how much kitchens and bathrooms can influence a buyer's first impression of a property.

That doesn't mean every homeowner needs a bathroom that looks like it belongs in Architectural Digest. Far from it.

What matters is creating a space that feels intentional.

Sometimes that's a major renovation. Other times, it's changing the lighting, hardware, mirrors, paint, tile or finishes. Even relatively small updates can completeley change how a bathroom feels. Architectural Digest's collection makes the same point: bathroom inspriation can range from smaller updates to complete renovations, with ideas involving tile, storage, architectural details, fixtures and more.

And if you're preparing a home to sell, those choices become even more important. The goal isn't necessarily to choose the trendiest finish. It's to make updates that complement the home, appeal to buyers and make sense for the investment.

But I'm sticking with this one as my favorite. The marnle, warm wood, glass and brass combination got me. ❤️

Now I want to know: Which bathroom would you choose for your own home?
